Owl Nail Art

Today’s post is going to be showing you all one of my favourite designs to do on nails – OWLS! I know there seems to be a trend of owls just now (at least in the UK there is) and one of my friends is obsessed to the point of everything she gets now has to be owls or owl related. Yeah they’re cute, but I don’t think I’d like everything covered in owls… Saying that, we just bought – well the boyfriend convinced me to really – a gorgeous pink owl door stop last week. But that’s not to say I’m going to go all owl-crazy! It did inspire me to go back to this design though, since I’ve not done it in possibly over a year. I love the look of them on nails, especially when you can see natural nail on the top ❤ Beautiful!

Ok, ramble over, onto the picture!

I used all Barry M nail polishes for this manicure (listed in the same order they’re in the picture) – Teal, Cosmic Glow (from their magnetic collection), Papaya (Gelly), a limited edition wax finish pink and Plum (Gelly) were the colours I used for the owls. I then added in the ears and stomachs with Gold and Silver nail foils, the beaks were Block Orange, and then the eyes were done with the Nail Art Pens in black and white. It was so much fun to use all one brand for such a colourful manicure!

I originally saw a manicure similar to this when I was browsing the internet back before I started documenting my manicures, which inspired me to recreate it. The post I found it on was this one here by Let Them Have Polish (Cristina is ammmmmaaaazing, go visit her site!) way back in 2011 :O

Can’t believe it’s been over 2 years since I’ve been painting nails… I feel I have really come on a lot since then, but definitely can improve much more. I aim to get my photography skills up a bit too, because the quality of the photo can make all the difference.

Do you have a favourite manicure that you always fall back on when you’re stuck? Or love owls?! Let me know in the comments 🙂
